From Logic to Lyrics
To the outside observer, my work on All Things Data (a metadata management platform) and my synth-wave compositions might seem like polar opposites. One is rigid and administrative; the other is fluid and emotional.
But look closer.
The Metadata of Music
Every song is a collection of metadata. Tempo, key, time signature, track layering—these are just variables in an emotional equation.
When I code, I am building a structure for information. When I compose, I am building a structure for sound. Both require a deep understanding of how small parts fit into a larger whole.
The Rhythm of the Terminal
There is a rhythm to coding. The click-clack of the mechanical keyboard, the iterative loop of test-and-fix, the satisfaction of a successful build. It’s not that different from a 4/4 beat.
The “joy of coding” and the “joy of music” come from the same place: the ability to create order out of chaos.
